Taking place in st. Louis Missouri, the hometown of Randy Orton. Backlash had a lot of expectation & work to be done after a mixed bag of a wrestlemania. Was backlash able to keep the WWE's momentum on an upswing?

Jacob Fatu v Drew Mcintyre v Damien Priest v LA Knight - US title fatal 4 way.
Jacob Fatu v Drew Mcintyre v Damien Priest v LA Knight - US title fatal 4 way.

A wild contest full of action, multiple finishing moves, hard hitting manuevers & even a suprise debut. It was really no shock that this one delivered is it? with all four men being world title calibre performers.

Jacob Fatu managed to retain after the interference ran by a debuting Jeff Cobb of NJPW & Lucha underground fame. Though Jacob was looking as confused as the fans in the arena what will this lead to in the future, perhaps more bloodline infighting?

Lyra Valkyria vs Becky Lynch - Women's intercontinental title match

Is Lyra the future of the Women's division on RAW? it is sure starting to feel that way. A match up with Becky is about as big a rub as anyone can get in 2025.

With Becky's career on the back end it gives each of her bouts an importance.

Even bigger to pick up a win over THE MAN but with an assault after the match its hard to imagine that this feud will be ending any time soon.

Excited to see how the ladies can build on this match & where it may end up in the future.

Dominik Mysterio vs Penta - Men's intercontinental championship match.
Dominik Mysterio vs Penta - Men's intercontinental championship match.

Dom may be dirty, he may be a sleaze bag but he is starting to become the people's sleazebag. After such an impressive outing here which frankly over shadowed the star power of Penta. Its hard to see the WWE universe booing Dom for much longer.

Also that DDT! the furthering of the Finn story, El Grande Americano etc all made for fun, middle of the card action & story set up.

Gunther vs Pat McAfee
Gunther vs Pat McAfee

A real sleeper (excuse the pun) hit of a match here. Can we give credit where it is due? there were many fans worried about Gunther after his big loss to Jey but this is perfect.

From shrugging off the offense of pat to showing his ruthless streak. Gunther is on the slow rebuild in WWE right now.

Mark my words Gunther will be moving onto the WWE title once Cena's run is finished. Also a quick shout out to Michael Cole who helped an an extra layer to the drama without over staying his welcome.

Randy Orton vs John Cena - WWE championship. Main event

WOW.

simply put, the perfect match for the ocassion. Action, drama & a light dose of wonderful nonsense towards the end.

If this is the last time we see these two face off then what better way to have ended it? The RKO spamming was marvellous.

The live crowd ate up every last second of it & to anyone complaining about the finish. I am slightly concerned that you may not understand the point of a wrestling "heel" to do bad things & take away what you want.

Randy was kept very strong and didn't lose an ounce of star power in this one. Cena is starting to find his groove as the main event heel.

Ps John, don't you dare hurt our precious R-truth.

Overall thoughts.

A very fun event from start to finish, the time flew by with no filler.

Excited to see where we go now with the build for summerslam on the horizon.

Wild that we are likely going to see John Cena vs R-Truth for the WWE championship in 2025.
